PAINFUL COMFORT 2
Leave me in my painful comfort,
I'll stay and play with my muse;
I'll enjoy my peaceful anguish,
When you'd think I'd win I lose.
Watch me as my mind betrays me,
And my thoughts run down the page;
If only I could let you see it,
But you'd be smothered by the rage.
Give me back my guilt-free conscience,
When my actions brought no shame;
Give me back my self-destruction,
So I can try to die again.
Leave me in my painful comfort,
As my life ticks slowly past;
Of all that I have had and lost,
It seems only pain can last.
