I TRY
I try to catch a meaning
As it drifts swiftly by;
I try to hear the laughter
Behind the winds faint cry.
I try to keep on living
As my soul erodes within;
I try to find goodness
In a heart black with sin.
I try to find freedom
Within my mental jail;
I try so hard to make it
And yet make sure I fail.
I search for understanding
Of my twisted ways;
I try to learn to enjoy -
These long pain-filled days.
I try to let you in
But my fear slams the door;
I try to accept today
But long for so much more.
I try to get over love
And all its tender scars;
I try to see beyond
The concrete and the bars.
I try to keep up with -
My ever-racing mind;
I try to see inside me
But in blackness I am blind.
I try so hard to smile
Through this wall of pain;
I try to catch my thoughts
Although they sound insane.
I try to be like you
With your carefree smile;
I try to forget the past
Just for a little while.
I try to get over love,
All the joy I've lost;
I try to sell the pain
But can't even make it's cost.
I try not to love
But throw caution to the wind;
I try not to love
But always fall back in...
