i think you're trying to define the "modern metalhead" and "mordern metal" because a lot of metalheads ARE NOT like that! maybe its just the impression you get because thats the kinda metalheads you know but the way i see it its mostly moderners that listen to crappy bands like lamb of god, killswitch engage, avenged sevenfold etc and brag about how goddamn awsome their taste in music is and how every other genre does not compare to "metal". i'd actually struggle to define stuff like that as metal because its just awful and it gives metal as a genre a bad name! people i know who have never listened to metal before think of it as loud, fast, aggressive, with weedly weedly guitars and deep deep vocals. if they actually listened to some REAL metal by TALENTED bands they might learn to appreciate how good a genre it is.
