Check out the new cover on the upcoming reissue of The Daybreakers, it is the one with Orrin, Tye, and
Drucilla on the porch of the house (all new Sackett covers to come in the next year). Let me know how you
like it (and others as they come). There has been a bit of trouble with covers reciently. We had a 2001
calender made up (after a couple of years off) and showed it to Barns and Noble (or one of the other chains . .
. I forget) with one of the old "shoot 'em up" covers on it. When we switched to the cover art to Monument
Rock (much more laid back -- maybe even boring) they refused to buy them. Of course the interior art for
each month was very different but they felt they couldn't sell the Monument Rock calender cover to the public.

So now I worry. This new style (The Daybreakers not Monument Rock) is intended to look like classic
western illustration (like N.C. Wyeth) and appeal more to people who are not only die-hard western fans . . . I
kind of figure they'll buy our stuff anyway . . . but men and women of a wider potential audience. All the
"new" Sackett covers have the inset art with a little of the background color around the painting.

Do you think this works?
