I'll have to dig out some materials, but from memory the cartridge loading weapons came about near the end or just at the end of the war, but weren't being mass produced until a few years later. The first revolvers were also cap and ball weapons, but the cartridges were quickly available after Mr. Lincoln's War...I'll write more later.
