"Suddenly something had happened to me, and it happened to Orrin
too. The world had burst wide open, and where our narrow valleys had
been, our hog-backed ridges, our huddled towns and villages, there was
now a world without end or limit. Where our world had been one of a
few mountains valleys, it was now as wide as the earth itself, and
wider, for where the land ended there was sky, and no end at all to
that."

Changes, as you can see, can occur to ones as their experience is
broaden out to observe others in action, along with the enviroment
around you. We can see these changes taking place in Tye and Orrin.
They realized right away as they started their experience that they
needed more education. And this is what they pursued through Tom
Sunday and Cap Rountree. Tom Sunday through his vast education and
Cap Rountree through his knowledge of the country side and general
wisdom about people.

These changes affected them both in different ways. But as we can
see changes also happened to Tom Sunday in an adverse way. Pride
and jealously can turn a person into a killer. When did this occur? At
the burnt out wagons, when they found the money or was it there all
along?

It had been several years Since I had read The Daybreakers, I also got
a different read this time. I noticed that Tye and Orrin although
Brothers and a lot alike were vastly different. They needed each other
to feel complete as a family but would draw the line on something they
felt strongly about. Yet would be respectable of each other in their
decisions.
