Surprisingly, it was nice to be home. I knew it was gonna be like that already, because June is the hottest month there (the "premonsoon summer" season they call it, where the temps are really high, but it's dry); but Phoenix hit over 110 several days while we were there.
I am a desert rat, but even the kangaroo rats only go out at night in that weather. Whewee. We had to ramble around in the daytime, though, being short on time.
Not that there's anything really wrong with Chicago. The people are so nice here. But it's prairie and wetlands, so no mountains. But still pretty in it's own way, and without all the strife over water. There's plenty of water. It's a real luxury.
