You know, Mike, I agree wholeheartedly. What you just said brings to mind a story with a similar drama...an old man faces adversity; everyone seems to be against him, he's caught out in a terrible storm, and things just can't get worse. It's called, "King Lear" by Shakespeare. Shakespeare capitalizes on the drama & it makes one heck of a good read. It's not cluttered up with too much trying to be told at once, like it was in "The Sacketts" movie (although I loved the movie).
If you ever venture to read it, read the play in "The Riverside Shakespeare", published by Houghton Mifflin. It has 'archaic' words explained at the bottom of each page. It's a whopping $70.00 to buy, but I've seen it on sale in Barnes & Noble Bookstores for only $20.00 before. I was aching to buy one because I knew it would be invaluable to SOMEBODY... but I had my own copy & I don't know anyone motivated enough to attempt Shakespeare. It's their loss. C.
