In Bendigo I am now up to the part where he is buying cattle to take
back home. Louis wonderfully describes the bitter cold, blowing wind
and snow covered ground. I had to smile because I was reading this in
the car while waiting for someone and the summer heat was nearly
unbearable as I wiped perspiration from my forehead. Hey, it made me
feel a little cooler anyway! :-) By the way, I liked the way the old
Indian had secretly held a rifle on that scoundrel Shelde from the
bushes. I pictured the old Indian in The Outlaw Josey Wales.
Incidentally, that movie is one of my all time favorites. I believe
mostly because it has so many great one-liners...."we got us something
called a Missouri boat ride".
