I agree with Mike. "To the Far Blue Mountains" followed by "Fair Blows the Wind" sounds good to me. I'm actually about three quarters of the way through TTFBM. Reading the books in order adds much to my enjoyment as the continuity helps me to understand the growth of the various relationships of the individuals and the progression of the players in their exploration of the country and their movement west.
