Yes, I read past the part where he attracts a sharp stick. Too bad. But if you remember he was the one of the group who tended to be careless, lighting the fire to eat when Barnabas had told him to wait. The Barnabas and Sakim had to rescue him. Perphaps not one to "ride the river with". A pal like that could get you killed. I haven't read any further due to automobile breakdown problems so I am ready to trade in the modern form of transportation and "get a horse".
