This is an interesting way to get the US History of "Seward's Folly" from an other view point. This is not the "BIG" picture but the view from the individual's point of view and what it meant to the people in te Northwest. It also points out how far down the Pacific coast the Russians had moved and how much influence they had along the coast. They were colonizing the Pacific Coast long before Western Europe got there. (The Spanish had come up the Coast almost as far as the Russians had come down. All this before the British and the French got here.) |
