Wabush and Labrador City is an area rich in recreational activities. The outdoors is just footsteps away, making camping, hiking and other outdoor activities very attractive. There are activities suitable for all types of interest, the area having excellent facilities, including an eighteen hole golf course, world class ski facilities, an indoor swimming pool, hockey arenas, gymnasiums, an arts and culture center, restaurants and bars, to name some.

The winter in this northern area is filled with annual events, including the Labrador West Winter Carnival in March, The Labrador 400 (a four-hundred mile dogsledding race from Labrador City to

Churchill Falls and back), and the Iron Mug Downhill Ski race, and the Great Labrador Loppet in April - a cross -country ski event. The winters with their abundance of snow, provide for excellent snowmobiling seasons, with an endless area to travel in with frozen lakes and wilderness trails allowing snowmobilers to travel endlessly

Labrador is widely known for having some of the best freshwater fishing in the world. The area is Lake Trout caught in Wabush Narrows - 1991surrounded by bodies of water of various sizes, much of which is teeming with trout, pike, wannanish, and whitefish. Whether it be ice fishing in the winter and early spring, or fishing by boat or from shore in the summer, it is an area filled with fishermen's dreams. Trophy fish are common in Lab West.

Every season has something for the outdoorsman. Wildlife is still plentiful, and with excellent wildlife management and the areas massive wilderness areas, hunting and fishing will remain an important part of the areas recreation and economy. Outfitters cater to customers from all over the world, the US bringing a large percentage of return customers.
