"A Lesson in Fear"
by Soft Rain

Look in my hand! Can you see what I hold?
A deadly weapon chilling me with fear.
It's black, dangerous and silently cold.
I loved you, afraid, you are too near.
The day we met you captured me bold.
Would you do harm to one you held dear?
Another's abuse with rage was told!
Hold my hand?
~~~
Look in my hand! Can you see it clear?
My heart was shattered with mind of fear.
How could I give you my soul to soar?
Afraid to touch you, I shed one tear.
Ask you...see my hand?
~~~
Look in my hand! I hold it still!
I believed the lies he said were true,
His was jealousy, designed to kill.
He can't take what belongs to you,
But did his best to break my will.
Beg you...touch my hand?
~~~
I look for my hand. It touches no more.
Eyes and heart were yours at the start,
His lies flew up to slam the door.
I loved you, not wanting ever to part,
Trembling now, love and fear were at war.
Each night my arms hold your perfect heart,
This loss so great, dare I give anymore?
Plead you.... Take my hand?
~~~
I look for my hand! It falls to my side.
Your anger is felt where magic once came.
Lash out at me with your verbal tide,
I don't mind I'm use to the pain.
This trip of sorrow for you I'll ride,
To free your hate I pray to wane.
This time to heal I will abide,
As for me ...I seek the rain.
Please, my hand....
~~~
To make you whole,
I ask this gain.
One hot tear,
Marks the sand.
To let you love,
I ask again.
~~~
~~
~
No hand...
