I read the trilogy about 10 years ago and I remember feeling the same. I enjoyed the first book the most, but do read the others. They are a beautifully crafted homage to the psychology of submission and domination. Amazon has about 200 reviews of the book, which are thought provoking and amusing. People either LOVE it or HATE it, although the haters suspiciously protest alittle too much. In any event, happy reading!
